Amsterdam

I had the opportunity to participate a IBM Team Meeting in Amsterdam. I have never been to the City before, only Schiphzl Airport. But I have to admit, that that was a big mistake. The City of Amsterdam is simply amazing.

We stayed at the Best Western Apollo near the Rijksmuseum.
Weather was not the best, but who cares.

That city is beautiful... I never saw so many bicycles and electric cars. Scooters and bees are allowed on the same bike lanes (which are very wide). No helmets.
Lots of Teslas and other electric cars.
That City is definitely worth a travel...multiple times. I have to get back with my wife and the kids.

10. international SchwobaCup

It was time again for the 10th international SchwobaCup Young- and Oldtimer Rallye in Ehningen. The ninth time for me and my Trabant. Fabi was again my great Navigator.
But before we could start we had some technical issues with the Trabant. I checked everything the days before...all looked fine. But unfortunately on the 26th of June, the day of the Rallye, the second ignition Coil died. I can tell you, the Trabant is not powerful with only one running cylinder.
I found the problem pretty quick, but I had no replacement part available. So I called Nobse (the founder and organisator of the SchwobaCup). He said, I can come with my 17 year old Cougar and participate.

While we were there I asked one of his friends if he knows someone with a spare part. Tommi had an idea. A older VW Beetle engine in the scrap box had 12V ignition coil.

He removed it, I got back into my Cougar, drove again the 30km back home, replaced the faulty part and returned with a strong running Trabant :-)

I was soooooo happy. Nobse called me crazy :-) I love to be crazy.
This year we drove 260km to the swabian alb. Very nice drive. Weather was good, not to hot, no rain till the late evening.

We also won second Place as a team with Hansjörg and Rainer in the Porsche 911, Simon and Simone in the Mercedes E260.

I won an extra Price for the most times attending the SchwobaCup. Nine times. Only in 2009, when Josefine was born and we still lived in Montpellier, I did not attend.

We were happy and it was again a great Rallye. See you next year...

Retro Classics Stuttgart 2016

Once again I went to the Retro Classic Fair in Stuttgart. I took my little Trabant in this sunny weather to get there. They arranged a Parking area just for historic cars.
The fair itself was nice again. Lots of stuff to buy. The cars are getting more and more expensive. Some cars are going up so high... crazy.
