An evening in Berlin

I haven't been to Berlin for a long time, Dagmar was there last year..so we enjoyed our time in the biggest german City. Brandeburger Gate, Alex, East Berlin in general...
Thousands of people were at the Brandenburger Gate for the celebration. We were a bit late and there was no chance for us to get closer to the stage. So we walked around to the Reichstag, Main Train Station, Alexander Platz etc.
Was a beautiful trip

30 Jahre Mauerfall - Sternfahrt Berlin

30 years ago, on Novmeber 9th 1989 the Wall came down... a very special day for me and my family. Because without that day, Dagmar and I probably would have never met.
So it came, that Klaus Brinkmann asked me, if I would be interested to join a convoi on November 9th in Berlin, with the Trabant of course.
I immediately applied and made the planning for the trip. Luckily a colleague/friend offered us to stay at their place. So there was no struggle for a overpriced Hotelrooms on that busy weekend.

So we arranged everything to drive with the 26HP, 594ccm Trabant (with a replacement Engine, that now had about 8500km driven in 5 years) via Zwickau to Berlin.
We wanted to make stop in Zwickau, because, that is the place, the Trabant was built. They have a interesting August-Horch-Museum there.

Driving in best weather to Zwickau and then Berlin was fun. It is noisy, yes.. a Radio is not needed, because at speeds above 60km/h you must turn it loud and it is not very nice to listen at that soundmix.

On Nov.8th we already went to the pre-checkin with Klaus at the Hellweg DIY Store near the Ostbahnhof Berlin.
There were already some Trabants from France, all parts of Germany. So we made all the paperwork done and had some nice chats.
We then met a friend/colleague (Bertram) of mine and he showed us some parts of east Berlin. That was a really nice experience.

This Trip to Berlin was aunbelievable, goosebump experience.... People were waving, shouting, smiling ... during the convoi or when we drove on the Autobahn. Many shared their impressions, stories...
That was not the last time we did that with our Trabant :-)
Thanks to Klaus, Lorenz and all the others.
Many many thanks to Lars and Julia, that gave us some nice place to stay.
